company Christmas party

I wont claim to be an expert on company Christmas parties since for most of my life I have worked for a goverment entity and they a) cannot afford to have a "company" party b) have potlucks c) yeah that's about it.

I have been to a few of them but never my own parties usually because I was invited to go with someone.  The most recent one I went to was Jason's work Christmas party this year.

Anyway I had been debating on posting my thoughts because God forbid someone from his work read this and throw some sort of hissy fit but how about I leave out names including company name which should make this less hissyfitish

To begin with I didn't really want to go and supposedly neither did he but I listed the reasons to go

a. free food
b. a great opportunity to laugh at people
c. we might win a door prize

and the reasons not to go

a. the food might really suck
b. what if I am the one being laughed at

Anyway so we decided to go because Jason needs a raise and in order to get that he needs to advance in the company and the CEO and VP of the company were going to be there and although I dont condone butt kissing I figured it would be a good opportunity to kiss a lot of butt and get some free food and laugh at people.

We got there and I dont know what they were thinking placing the smoker area right in the pathway of the doors to go into the place so if I die of lung cancer it was probably because I had to wade through a cloud of smoke to go into the place.

They gave everyone tickets for free drinks but only 2 per person mind you that I am not a drinker but the drinks were for  beer and wine only and although it was free I know that there are a lot of people who do not drink wine or beer but prefer a margarita or a long island iced tea etc....so that kind sucked but soda was free of course they never filled your glass with a full can but hey you could get as many refills as you wanted.

The food was a buffet and decent but it was cold and not labeled so people kept serving themselves fish fillets which looked like grilled chicken.  My theory is when in doubt poke it you can usually tell by the consistancy--flaky or meaty? The vegggies were ice cold but the roast beef was awesome and although a little dry I won't complain too much cause it was tasty but then again I love meat.

They have decent deserts apple pie, pumpkin cheesecake and some chocolate cake looking thing which was really dry and seemed more like fudge but not as tasty and the only thing I ate off of it was the icing.

They had a professional photographer and they had a set up going reminding me of prom/homecoming picture stuff where you can take group/couple pictures background thingy but then again I cant really say because I never went to homecoming and/or prom.  Kinda cheesy and they were going around taking pictures of everyone too but at the same time they should have done some candids of people stuffing thier faces and looking not posed.   I think but then again what do I know?!

Now to the best part of the "PARTY" of course is what people wore ............

All I can say is there is a reason some people are executives and the managers (excuse the spelling) of the company AND you can tell who they are AND you can also tell who the peons are and why they will always be broom pushers.

Seriously!!!

Ripped jeans?  flip flops with a flannel Lumberjack shirt?   ball caps and Jeans?  And you want to be a supervisor or a manager???

that was one end of the spectrum....

The other was the MANY females who wore the so not appropriate stapless mini dresses ... which by the way if you are going to wear is not a big deal
a. IF you have the body for it and not a few spare tires around your middle
b. IF you are at the club trying to score a man
c. IF you are not trying to look like a hoochie in front of the CEO of the company you are working for and  trying to get a promotion
d. IF you are not having to constantly pull up/down the dress to cover those areas that you are trying to call attention to while displaying them even though you are trying to go for modest.

but I guess that is the effect A lot of these women were going for.  Especially the chick who did some ghetto pose when it was group picture time on the stage!!!

Wish I had had my own camera so that I could have posted pictures.... you would have laughed too!

All I can say is that this party delivered on the
a. free food ( i must admit that it was decent)
b.  many opportunities to laugh at people
AND
c. gave me something to write about
AND
d. provided some NOT SO shocking insight on the retardedness of women

oh but we didnt win a door prize.......
